November 19 - Guyana’s male and female rugby squads have returned home after clinching the North American and Caribbean Rugby Association Sevens Championships which was hosted in Mexico City last week.

For the men’s national team, it was their fourth consecutive title, and they will represent the region at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in New Delhi alongside Canada, while the women's national team retained the title which they had won the previous year.

In the women’s competition, Guyana proved too classy for the teams from St. Lucia, the Cayman Islands, hosts Mexico and The Bahamas.

St Lucia finished second with hosts Mexico placing third after two days of gruelling rugby in the high altitude. Guyana’s men narrowly defeated a strong Trinidad & Tobago side 12-10 in the final.
