Thailand were rolled out for 55 in Group A by India, who beat hosts Sri Lanka yesterday in their opening match, with medium pacer Mansi Joshi taking three wickets for just four runs in a five over spell.

This set up an easy run chase for them in Colombo as they won by nine wickets.

As for the hosts, they secured their first win of the tournament when they defeated Ireland by 146 runs.

Batting first, Sri Lanka scored 239/8 in their 50 overs with Prasadani Weerakkody hitting 63 and Dilani Manodara 53 not out.

Priyadharshani Fernando then picked up three wickets for 21 as Ireland were bowled out for 93.

In Group B, South Africa scored their second win of the qualifying competition with a six wicket success over Scotland.

Chloe Tryon was impressive with the bat again as her 45 not out helped South Africa surpass Scotland’s total of 142.

The group’s other game saw Pakistan win their first match of the tournament as they recorded a 67 run victory over neighbours Bangladesh.

The top four teams from the competition will qualify for the ICC Women’s World Cup in England between June 24 and July 23.
