India claimed a comfortable victory over Bangladesh in Queenstown to book their place in the International Cricket Council Under-19 World Cup semi-finals.

Having won the toss and elected to bat at the John Davies Oval, India quickly put the pressure on Bangladesh's bowlers.

They recovered from the early loss of Manjot Kalra, with Shubman Gill and Prithvi Shaw forming a strong partnership, with the pair ultimately scoring 86 and 40 runs respectively.

A half century from Abhishek Sharma put India on track for a total of around 300 runs, but a late collapse saw them eventually end on 265 all out from 49.2 overs.

Bangladesh soon found themselves under pressure to maintain the run-rate, with Mohammad Naim and captain Saif Hassan both departing for 12 early in their innings.

They would look to their opener Pinak Ghosh to keep them in the contest, as he began to approach his half-century.

Ghosh would miss out on the milestone when he was caught off the bowling of AS Roy for 43, with the wicket proving the fatal blow to Bangladesh’s innings.

He would prove the only member of the Bangladesh team to score over 20 runs, as they were eventually skittled out for just 134 runs.

Kamlesh Nagarkoti was the pick of the Indian bowlers as he took three wickets for just 18 runs, as his side won by 166 runs at the New Zealand venue.

Ishan Porel also proved highly effective, with his eight overs going for a mere five runs, despite the bowler not picking up a wicket.

India will now advance to a semi-final match against rivals Pakistan on Tuesday (January 30), with the tie set to take place at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch.

By then the teams will be aware of their potential opponent in the final, as Australia are set to meet Afghanistan on Monday (January 29) in the other semi-final.
