It gave the 23-year-old her second World Cup gold as reigning Olympic champion Catherine Skinner of Australia had to make do with silver.

The Rio 2016 winner could only score 44 hits as Aeriel Alease Skinner won another medal for the United States by bagging bronze.

Skinner fired down 34 of her 40 clays with only Carroll and Skinner firing at 50 targets.

It came after Skinner had previously set a qualification record with 119 targets hit out of 125.

Carroll's previous World Cup win came in Acapulco a year ago with Mexico proving a happy hunting ground for her yet again.

Elsewhere, there was success for China and India in mixed team competitions.

The 10 metre air rifle title went to Chinese shooters Xu Hong and Chen Keduo as they scored 502.0 to set a world record in the recently launched format.

Romania's Laura-Georgeta Coman won her second World Cup medal inside two days, teaming up with Alin George Moldoveanu and collecting silver with 498.4 points.

She was gold in the women's 10m air rifle yesterday.

India's Mehuli Ghosh and Deepak Kumar won bronze, scoring 392.6.

In the 10m air pistol mixed team, India won their third gold of the event as 16-year-old Manu Bhaker teamed up with Om Prakash Mitharval to win gold on 476.1.

Germany won silver as Sandra and Christian Reitz tallied 475.2 and bronze went to France's Celine Goberville and Florian Fouquet and their score of 415.1.

It meant a second gold for Bhaker who marked her World Cup debut with the women's 10 metres air pistol title on day of the event.

The men's trap final will be held tomorrow.
