Ireland and Bangladesh booked their places at the International Cricket Council Women's World Twenty20 after winning their semi-final matches at the qualifying tournament in The Netherlands today.

The Irish saw off Papua New Guinea by 27 runs at the VRA Cricket Ground in Amstelveen with Bangladesh beating Scotland by 49 runs at the same venue.

With only two spots available at November's Women's World Twenty20 in the West Indies, all four countries playing today knew that victory would assure them of a place.

Papua New Guinea won the toss and put Ireland into bat with Gaby Lewis reaching 36 in a total of 113-6.

This proved enough as the Oceania side were skittled out for 86, with Lucy O'Reilly taking three wickets.

Scotland also won the toss in their losing effort and asked Bangladesh to bat.

The Asian nation made 125-6 with Nigar Sultana's unbeaten 31 the best score.

Scotland were then left marooned on 76-7 in reply.

The final of the qualifying tournament will be played on Saturday (July 14) alongside other classification matches.

Both finalists have joined Australia, England, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka and hosts West Indies at the World Twenty20, due to be held in Antigua and Barbuda, Guyana and St Lucia from November 9 to 24.
