Eighteen-year-old Lin Yun-ju of Chinese Taipei was the victor in the men's singles final at the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) Czech Open. 

Lin, who has risen 118 positions to number 16 in the world rankings since January 2018, defeated Dimitrij Ovtcharov of Germany 11-9, 11-5, 4-11, 11-5, 11-9 at the OMEGA Sports Centre in Olomouc.

He had won 12-10, 9-11, 11-2, 11-6, 5-11, 6-11, 11-8 against table tennis veteran Timo Boll of Germany in the semi-finals, while Ovtcharov had triumphed 7-11, 11-9, 11-6, 11-13, 6-11, 11-9 against Brazil's Hugo Calderano.

The teenager has had a successful August so far, winning at the T2 Diamond Malaysia.

Chen Xingtong of China was the victor in the women's singles, holding off a comeback from Miu Hirano of Japan to beat her 11-5, 11-8, 11-7, 8-11, 12-14, 8-11, 11-8.

The Chinese star had recorded a 11-4, 11-3, 15-13, 7-11, 11-9 semi-final win against compatriot Feng Yalan earlier in the day, while it was an all-Japanese affair in the other semi-final, with Miu overcoming Kasumi Ishikawa 11-6, 4-11, 11-6, 14-12, 11-6.

The next ITTF event will be the European Championships in Nantes, taking place from September 3 to 8.
