The Euro Beach Soccer League Superfinal is poised to begin in Nazaré in Portugal tomorrow.

Hosts Portugal will be the favourites to win the five-team tournament, which will feature 10 games in total and run for five days after the coronavirus pandemic led to it being scaled down.

The hosts open their campaign against France, while Ukraine face Germany in tomorrow's other game.

Switzerland - the only other team present that currently ranks in the world's top 10 - are not in action on day one.

Portugal and Switzerland are due to face off in the tournament's final game on Sunday (September 6) - that could prove decisive, given they are the top-ranked sides playing.

The hosts are world champions and country ranked number one.

Figueira da Foz was due to host the event but pushed back its hosting rights until 2021 because of the coronavirus pandemic, prompting Beach Soccer Worldwide to move this year's tournament to Nazaré.

Portugal are the reigning champions, going unbeaten through last year's event.

After winning all three group matches, Portugal beat Russia in the final.

Spain came third, Ukraine seventh and Switzerland eighth.

Due to the pandemic, there is no second-tier competition offering promotion this year.
