The World Air Sports Federation (FAI) has confirmed that this year's World Parachuting Championships set to take place in Kemerovo and Tanay in Russia after the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) gave late approval.

In December 2018, the WADA Executive Committee unanimously endorsed that the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) be declared non-compliant with the WADA code for four years.

In December 2020, the Court of Arbitration for Sport controversially cut the ban to two years following an appeal by RUSADA.

as part of the sanctions, Russia will not be able to host, or be granted the right the stage, any major events during the two-year period where they apply.

It was also ruled that they stripped of any World Championships it had already been awarded that are due to take place between December 2020 and December 16 2022 "unless it is legally or practically impossible" to do so.

WADA has confirmed that the FAI can continue to host its event in Russia.

"Having reviewed the information provided by your organisation and based thereon, we acknowledge your assessment that it would be legally or practically impossible to withdraw the Event from Russia or to reassign it to another country," said WADA.

"Against this background, we do not consider the hosting of the Event in Tanay to be in violation of the Award."

The event is due to start on Tuesday (August 10) and last until August 20 with 13 disciplines due be contested.

"I am really pleased that the Mondial will now be able to take place even though the environment and circumstances will be rather different from those initially planned," said FAI President Gillian Rayner.

"It has been a long journey to reach this point and the ISC Bureau would like to thank you all for your patience and understanding.

"We are aware and are very sorry that certain nations will not be in a position to attend the event.

"We are also very aware that the volatile situation may cause last minute changes to travel arrangements.

"We encourage you to purchase refundable flight tickets and to be vaccinated if at all possible."

In a bid to ensure the safety of the event's stakeholders only official delegation members will be allowed to attend the event.

Local spectators will also be permitted but they will be kept completely separate from the competitors and officials.

The FAI World Parachuting Championships were last held in the Gold Coast in Australia in October 2018.

Formation skydiving, speed skydiving, canopy formation and artistic events were all contested in Queensland.
