The Asian Jump Rope Union (AJRU) has been recognised as Asia's official continental organisation by the International Jump Rope Union (IJRU).

The IJRU Board of Directors unanimously decided to recognise the AJRU.

It joins the Africa Jump Rope Federation and Pan American Jump Rope Federation in being formally recognised by the IJRU.

The European Rope Skipping Organisation announced it had signed a collaboration agreement with the IJRU in December 2020.

AJRU President Michael Chan called IJRU recognition a "mark stone" for the organisation.

"AJRU has the same vision as IJRU, will work closely with IJRU as IJRU’s continental organisation, and work with all Asian members to move jump rope sports forward in Asia," Chan added.

IJRU President Shaun Hamilton said that Chan "and his team have done a great job in organizing the Asian region into an effective organisation."

The IJRU, which became a World Anti-Doping Code signatory earlier this year, lists 17 members from Asia on its website.
