Austria's Marita Kramer topped qualification on the opening day of the women's Ski Jumping World Cup event in Klingenthal.

Kramer, who arrived at the German venue having claimed her second victory of the season in Lillehammer last weekend, jumped 140 metres to earn 147.6 points.

The Austrian was comfortably clear of the rest of the field, with Ursa Bogataj of Slovenia 16.5 points adrift in second.

Bogataj received 131.1 points after jumping 132.5m.

Norway's Silje Opseth, third in Lillehammer on Sunday (December 5), was a further 1.1 points behind Bogataj after she was given 130 points for a jump of 139.5m.

Kramer, the world team gold medallist who won four events in a row at the end of the 2020-2021 season, will be hoping to extend her overall lead when the normal hill competition takes place tomorrow.

She has 330 points, 45 clear of nearest challenger Katharina Althaus of Germany.

A women's large hill event is scheduled for Saturday (December 11).
