Marita Kramer extended her lead in the International Ski Federation (FIS) Ski Jumping World Cup after taking gold in the women's normal hill individual event in Ramsau.

The Austrian posted a combined score of 261 from two jumps of 92 and 90 metres to secure 100 points towards her season total.

Kramer's second run scored a disappointing 124.8 points which only ranked fourth.

However, her opener earned a colossal 136.2 points to ensure her safety at the top of the table.

Germany's Katharina Althaus had to settle for silver with a score of 256.9 while Ursa Bogataj of Slovenia claimed bronze with 253.3 points.

The podium in Ramsau also make up the current top three in the World Cup standings.

The result marked Kramer's fourth consecutive victory and fifth overall in the 2021-2022 season.

The 20-year-old has amassed 630 points so far compared to Althaus' 461 and Bogataj's 395.

Kramer's individual success has been instrumental in Austria taking pole position in the Nations Cup with 1,449 points while Slovenia and Germany round out the top three with 1,257 and 734, respectively.

Competition is set to continue in Ljubno in Slovenia on December 31 and January 1 with a double-header event.

Athletes were scheduled to travel to Sapporo in Japan for the first event of the season outside of Europe, however it was cancelled due to COVID-19 concerns.
