China's Eileen Gu ended the season with a perfect record in the women's halfpipe, securing the title with four wins from four in the event after victory at the International Ski Federation Freestyle Ski World Cup at Mammoth Mountain in the United States.

Heading into her home Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics in China, Gu positioned herself as the outright favourite for gold next month with two top-level runs, finishing with a best of 97.50.

Kelly Sildaru of Estonia, the 2019 halfpipe world champion, claimed the silver medal with a second run of 92.50, while the US' Brita Sigourney's 87.75 was enough to take bronze, beating compatriot Hanna Faulhaber by 0.5.

Li Fanghui of China was fifth, followed by Saori Suzuki of Japan, Zhang Kexin also from China and Canadian Amy Fraser.

A home victory in the men's halfpipe was snatched away at the last moment by New Zealand's Nico Porteous with a tremendous second effort, scoring 97.00.

David Wise of the US had sat in prime position, having scored 95.25 on his first run, but had to agonisingly settle for silver.

Bronze went to Aaron Blunck, finishing behind his compatriot with a score of 93.75.

Birk Irving was close behind in fourth, making it three Americans in the top four, while Miguel Porteous and Ben Harrington ensured that three New Zealanders made it into the top six too.

Alongside Gu, Canada's Brendan Mackay - who did not feature in the final - claimed the men's halfpipe World Cup title.
