Skiers Greta Small and Brodie Summers have been voted onto the Australian Olympic Committee Athletes' Commission following elections held during Beijing 2022.

Small, an Alpine skier, and Summers, a moguls skier, both competed at the Games prior to their inclusion on the Commission at the Olympic Village yesterday.

AOC Chef de Mission Geoffrey Lipshut claimed the Winter Olympians in China were particularly engaged in governance, adding that the two new members would contribute well to the Commission.

"We had a very good turnout in voting with the group - congratulations to Greta and Brodie," said Lipshut.

Summers finished 10th in the men's moguls final at his third Games.

"Brodie has a great range of experiences in sport, starting off as a regional local athlete in Mount Buller to attending three Olympic Games," said Lipshut.

"It took him a while to get into the national team, so he remembers that struggle.

"I think he will represent the winter sport athletes extremely well.

"He will do a great job of listening to athletes and importantly, asking the right questions of his fellow athletes to understand what they need and what direction planning should be going.

Small finished in 13th in the women's Alpine combined during Beijing 2022, as well as 26th in downhill and 31st in super-G.

“Greta is one of the great stories in winter sport in Australia." said Lipshut.

"She's taken on the world of downhill ski-racing.

"Just herself and her father, without a lot of resources.

“Yet she gets out there each week and represents our country really well at the very toughest level of competition.

"Greta will bring that particular experience and knowledge to the Commission."

Canoeists Jess Fox and Ken Wallace, boxer Alex Winwood, water polo athlete Rowie Webster, hockey players Rachael Lynch and Andrew Charter, as well as rower Cameron Girdlestone are part of the group too.

A new chair is expected to be elected new month now that the Winter Olympians have been chosen.

Skier Scott Kneller had been elected as the chair last September, but it was always known he would step down after Beijing 2022 when new winter representatives were voted on to the Commission.
