A number of Olympic medallists are set to participate in the first leg of the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) Shotgun World Cup circuit in Nicosia, Cyprus.

The United States’ Vincent Hanock and Britain’s Matthew Coward-Holley headline the men’s events at a tournament due to start tomorrow at the Cyprus Olympic Shooting Range "Lakis Psimolophitis".

Hancock won gold in the men’s skeet at Tokyo 2020 to add to the Olympic titles he had claimed at Beijing 2008 and London 2012, while Coward-Holley achieved bronze in the men’s trap at Tokyo 2020.

The women’s event consists of America's Amber English and Italy’s Diana Bacosi renewing their rivalry.

Bacosi, the skeet gold medallist at Rio 2016, was defeated by English at Tokyo 2020 last year.

The American took gold and Bacosi settled for silver.

Other women Olympic medallists from Tokyo 2020 participating include Kayle Browning of the US and Alessandra Perilli of San Marino, silver and bronze medallists in trap, respectively.

The action at a venue which has already held already hosted seven World Cups, three World Championships, three European Championships and two World Cup Finals is scheduled to conclude on March 17. 

The men’s and women’s trap will dominate the first three days of competition, with Saturday (March 12) due to be the first day of medal matches.

Thereafter, each day will have medals awarded.

The trap mixed team is set to headline Sunday (March 13) and the men’s and women’s trap team categories takes the focus the following day with their medal matches.

The men’s and women’s skeet finals will be hosted on Tuesday (March 15) while the skeet mixed has the attention on the penultimate day of  competition.

Closing the ISSF World Cup is scheduled to be the men’s and women’s skeet team events.
