Host nation Germany have finished the men's and women's group stages undefeated at the EuroHockey Championships in Mönchengladbach.

The women's outfit won three from three in Pool B without conceding a single goal at the Warsteiner Hockey Park.

Defender Sonja Zimmermann starred as she scored in every match that resulted in the side taking pole position and progressing to the semi-finals along with England in second.

The 24-year-old lashed home the opener against Scotland after just 23 seconds and then completed her brace with a drag-flick finish on the way to a 4-0 triumph.

She then hit the net in each of the 5-0 victories against England and Ireland.

England's 3-0 and 5-0 wins against Ireland and Scotland, respectively, were enough to put them through to the next round in second place.

The Welsh scored thrice in the last period to see out the match 3-3.

Mats Grambusch's side then humbled The Netherlands 3-0 in what was a rematch of the last final before beating France 4-1.

Dominant 6-0 and 8-1 wins against France and Wales, respectively, put the Dutch into second place to set up a semi-final tie with Tokyo 2020 champions Belgium.

The Belgians finished first in Pool A after picking up three points against each of England, Spain, and Austria.

England won their other two matches, including a 4-3 thriller against Spain, to progress to the semi-finals where they will play Germany.
