New Zealand's men are on course for back-to-back Olympic football appearances after a resounding 8-0 win over Vanuatu in the Oceania Football Confederation Men's Olympic Qualifier semi-final.

The Oly Whites were the Oceania representative at Tokyo 2020 and will face Fiji, who took part at Rio 2016, for a place at Paris 2024.

Fiji defeated Solom Islands 3-0 in the other semi-final.

The group phase saw New Zealand beat Fiji 3-1 while they benefited from a 3-0 win over Papua New Guinea, who were unable to travel for their scheduled match on 27 August.

American Samoa withdrew from Group A.

Meanwhile, Solomon Islands won all three of their pool games against Vanuatu, Samoa and Tonga to top Group B.

The first semi-final at the Go Media Mt Smart Stadium in Auckland was a one-sided affair with New Zealand opening the scoring in the third minute.

Aaryan Raj produced a defence-splitting pass to find Jesse Randall, who calmly finished past Massing Kalotong to put the hosts in front.

The second goal of the onslaught came from Oskar Van Hattum, who headed in in the 10th minute to double the advantage before Randall got his brace two minutes later.

New Zealand inflicted more pain on a helpless Vanuatu team when George Ott converted from the spot after a foul on him from Kalotong.

Chances were limited for Vanuatu and its players, who did not make the most of it when it came.

The first half finished 6-0 when Van Hattum got his brace before Ryan Verney scored in the 43rd minute.

The second half saw coach Darren Bazeley make some changes with New Zealand scoring two more.

Raj headed in to make it 7-0 in the 53rd minute and added one more as he was left unmarked at the far post following a corner.

The second semi-final saw skipper Etonia Dogalau starring for Fiji with a brace in their 3-0 win over Solomon Islands.

Dogalau scored one in each half with the first one coming from a free header following a corner in the 25th minute.

He doubled the advantage with 20 minutes to go when he connected a juicy cross from Nabil Begg from the left.

Brendan McMullen scored the final goal with one minute to go.
