The World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) will mark its ten years as the only governing body for baseball and softball worldwide with the first World Baseball Softball Day.

The day marks the inaugural WBSC Congress in Hammamet, Tunisia, where Riccardo Fraccari was elected as the first president, following the announcement of themerger between the International Baseball Federation (IBAF) and the International Softball Federation (ISF) at the IBAF Congress in Tokyo in April 2013.

"Over the past 10 years, we have witnessed an incredible journey filled with many milestones and achievements. At the heart of this journey has been the spirit of teamwork. It has been the foundation upon which we have worked to build and grow our sport around the world," Fraccari said.

World Baseball Softball Day will be celebrated with a social media campaign involving National Federations and the wider community. The WBSC will award the most innovative National Federation activation with a $10,000 (€9,300) equipment grant and invite them to a gala dinner at the Olympic Museum.

The inclusion of baseball/softball in the Tokyo 2020 and Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games is the WBSC's most significant achievement, but there are others. In these 10 years, the WBSC's Premier12 event will be launched for the third time, alongside the inaugural ePremier12, aimed at a younger audience.

Rebranded Softball World Cups and new age categories offer expanded opportunities. Innovative formats such as Baseball5 and eBaseball will appeal to younger generations, with Baseball5 included in the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games.

Friday 10 May will be the occasion to celebrate all that the WBSC has achieved in just 10 years of existence with World Baseball Softball Day, a decade after Fraccari began his WBSC presidency.
