Organisers of the Yekaterinburg 2023 Summer World University Games say they are hoping to recruit more than 11,000 people as part of their volunteering programme.

The portal where candidates can apply to volunteer at Yekaterinburg 2023 is set to open on August 8, which coincides with two years to go until the Opening Ceremony is due to get underway.

Organisers say they are hoping to recruit 6,000 candidates from the Sverdlovsk Region, 4,000 volunteers from other regions in Russia and a further 200 from overseas.

All volunteers will be provided with a uniform, food and transport, and will receive souvenirs and diplomas from organisers, while volunteers from abroad will receive free accommodation.

Organisers say a knowledge of foreign languages, the basics of journalism, technical skills, sports training and some experience of volunteering is "highly welcome."

Volunteers are set to be required across several areas, including event services, transport and sport volunteers and IT specialists.

Information about rules, procedures and the timeframe of the selection is available through the Games website.

The Yekaterinburg 2023 Summer World University Games is scheduled to take place from August 8 to 19.
